the NOI are not actually Muslim their beliefs are considered heretical for a number of reasons.
When I say black people who are Muslim I mean black people who are actually Muslim if that makes sense

Tbh you’re gonna have to go deeper for me bro where does the distinction lie?

Actual Muslims who are black believe in Islam as it was preached by the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)
The NOI believe some white passing guy named WD Fard was the physical manifestation of God and taught Elijah Muhammad a bunch of stuff then he vanished. They also believe Elijah Muhammad was the final prophet of God which directly goes against Muslim teachings because it is believed that the Prophet Muhammad was the final messenger of God.

I believe that traditional islam was probably a "black religion" but I can't believe in Yakub or most of the NOI teachings. Specially the floating spacer.

I still got respect for Minister Farrakhan and Elijah Muhammed for what did done for Black people. But what they did malcom x was wrong, and it must still get at Farrakhan that Maclom X is still love more than him

people from the horn of Africa (Somalia,Ethiopia etc...) were some of the first people who reverted to Islam. Plus the Quran describes the first man Adam as being of the darkest complexion so yeah i can see that.

People say pro black and don't even know what that means.

That's gonna include who you marry and have kids with. How can you say you're pro black when you're creating children that will benefit more by being in closer proximity to whiteness? You can say "we all Black", but brown & dark skins suffer more aggressively and violently from Anti-Black racism than liteskin and white passing folks. That isn't a debate. You're marrying someone nonblack, thus that's where your money is going. Being pro black is also being pro Black economic development and how will you do that when your money goes into even more nonblack pockets. It doesn't add up.

That being said you can advance and assist your Black community without being "pro Black". I try not to get too hung up on it because the effects of white supremacy have left severe generational trauma with hidden desires. Just don't disrespect Black men and women in your quest for a nonblack partner.

Everyone needs to stop applying US relations to the rest of the Diaspora. Black Americans are the only ones who would have and who accept people with the phenotype of Adam Clayton Powell as a Black (American) man. Black American is an ETHNICITY not a race. We're also not "fully Black". We're mixed people, some more than others on average. I have a book with a section on the formation of Black Americans as an ethnicity, because it didn't happen right away, it was a conscious decision to combat the color line and classism by leaders at the time. I'll try to post the excerpts later.

We also need to be honest that people with a nonblack parent nowadays are not being raised how ACP was either tho. I'm speaking in terms of the US. There's a rise in everyone talking about how mixed they are and having 2 cultures and whatever like Saweetie lol. Those aren't proud Black American people those are proud mixed race people and that's a decision they have to make. There's nothing wrong with that either BTW I'm just saying, ACP was mixed race of FPOC descent and identified as a very proud Black American man.

Personally if you ID as Black, have a Black parent, and aren't cooning then it's all good in my book. (again, US context when I say 'Black' in this case)

I also think the feelings and consideration of mixed with Black people is taking up too much space and needs to be decentered immediately. That's problematic in itself.

I'm am not focusing on making sure Kehlani types feel comfortable in the Black community when colorism still the elephant in the room, and brown and dark skins (esp dark skins) treated like dirt in our own community. (no, lite/mixed people can't suffer from colorism but they can from monoracialism). Even Featurism is a bigger issue.

My perspective on mixed ppl identifying as black has changed so much now as an adult. I used to think it was so ridiculous when mixed ppl fought so hard against being labeled black.

If you have to fight an identity or push back on it when people call you that, it's for the best to just leave them be tbh.

People that have a choice in identifying with Blackness fighting so hard against it isn't worth the time to me.
