On a Sunday morning in May of 1969, as clergy processed into the sanctuary of New York’s august Riverside Church, civil rights activist James Forman vaulted into the pulpit to demand $500 million in reparations for the mistreatment of African Americans from white churches and synagogues.

At the time, Forman’s interruption represented the high point for the reparations movement. A week before, Forman had debuted a radical proposal for racial justice known as “the Black Manifesto” for 500 black activists gathered in Detroit for the National Black Economic Development Conference.

Which still, isn't enough.

I think stating numbers are intimidating people, I think reparations needs to be a rolling thing with something given out upfront but continuous money is poured into aiding black american wealth.

I'm not an ADOS so It's not in my place to say, but even though you deserve it, you guys are never getting reparations. You would see cacs rioting in the streets if a bill was even written about it.

This is a thread for the entire diaspora btw, not just ADOS.

However, I think that doesn't matter. ADOS need to fight for what we're supposed to have gotten already and be willing to ride to do so anyways. I'm not begging the white man for money he has owed me from time, I'm putting my foot on his neck to get what is mine and put it into my people.

It's not a handout to me, it's just like someone owing you money and you go to collect.
