"So I’m like, OK, that’s cool, but I got places to be. But I love that they care about the story. I love rap, but I feel like that’s what it has been missing."

Somehow s***s on both genres while admitting he's too lazy or impatient for either

9/10 a punch in can’t be recreated live and most these dudes are using the Big Sean method: do a bar here and there across sessions when you have a really good set of bars

50 Cent spent hours saying “G-G-G-G Unit” practicing every way to say it and get it right. Rappers have to get it right too if they don’t care to put the effort in to get it right that’s on them

It sucks that we get this from rappers that are the ones with the best shot at being crossover / mainstream successes

Why can’t we just have a wave of rappers that love rap? I know everything is a crossover and genre blending and all but it’s kinda disheartening

because they love money more than the art itself and so much media is released about money and business and these people see the kind of numbers you can do if you cross over into country and pop especially with Lil Nas X and Post Malone that they want to branch out of it as soon as they get into it

what makes non punched in better? breath control?

Aside from the skill it takes to recite a whole verse the sound of a non-punched in verse is almost always better. there’s obviously exceptions with really talented artists with good engineering but a fully rapped verse is almost always far better

many of the rappers we consider hightier take time in performance

from ice cube to biggie to outkast even jay z, to t.i. to young jeezy to kanye to eminem n 50, to kendrick to cole to drake to pusha etc.

2pac, dmx n wayne are literally the ones of high tier, but even then they STILL had moments

nah the game has definitely changed

that “getting it right” will get cleaned up by the engineer

nowadays niggas is running through like 5-10+ beats a session AND recording to each one. I think that’s what BigX is ineloquently trying to explain in his observations

that’s why Clipse album HITS because they were working one song across multiple sessions until it was fully finished

Central Cee just admitted to using YouTube beats all over his debut. I promise you they did what I described above until it all played well together at listening sessions lmfao
