Not the same money that the major labels have. These "labels" that rappers have are really imprints. They dont have the power to market and distribute themselves like a Atlantic or Warner Bros who are owned by billion dollar companies.

u should read about the music industry man ur sounding mad stupid, that's categorically false

my definition for label success is the ratio of signed acts to successful acts is high. G Unit had damn year 20 acts. only 5 of them were even incrementally successful (achieving gold status, cultural relevance etc.)

fam I just read your OP again and the standard that you hold is Dreamville and whatever the hell Lil Bibby's label is.

people have named you labels that delivered timeless, classic records for the genre. i just don't see where you're tryna take us with this.

Bibby's "label" had one artist, Juice World.

    J. Cole's label doesnt even have 1 Gold selling artist attached to it

But those are the ones you say "popped".

Lil Bibby has juicewrld and Kid Laroi (not saying he's a smash), but thats TWO artists out of two delivering platinum plaques on a yearly basis

I don’t get this “worked” thing here

These guys aren’t starting labels so they can be the biggest, they start it most cases to leave a mark and give people they believe in opportunities even if it’s just a small bump. They’re all indie labels and at best signed through a major but even with that they’re never generating that much money outside of major anomalies

These guys just wanna own a business and be a boss it’s pretty simple of course Sean doesn’t think he’s changing the landscape with his s***

Who the f*** is Kid Laroi?

a white boy from Australia that bibby signed before juice died.

Juice helped mentor him and s***, he sounds like a mix of Juice and post.

He's pretty dope ngl, he could be super big in a couple years

    Rapper labels work.

Just depends on whether the rapper is a hustler and whether the artists is worth investing in.

    MMG worked.

    So did G-Unit.

    And Roc-A-Fella.

Good definitely worked for a solid 10-15 years

I think worked as in they actually had star artists and successful releases...

It’s not that hard to understand stop tryna be difficult

    It didnt.

Wop never signed his Kanye West.

S***, he never signed his Memphis Bleek.

Everyone who got hot with Gucci signed somewhere else.

Hes still one of the best A&R's of all time tho.
