  • He's very clearly a tier 1 level rapper. Like, you don't even have to dig really hard to see that amongst the most popular rappers today, (Kendrick, Cole, Drake, Meek, etc.) he more than holds his own.

I dare anyone to say that first Q freestyle, 4th Q freestyle, or no more interviews isn't elite bars

The idea that he can't rap, or that he's "corny" doesn't even check out lol like he has no more goofier lines than Drake or Cole.

The reality is, this s*** is all conditioning and from a reputation perspective he just hasn't recovered from the A$$ and Woahderboi stuff that he's so far removed from. It is what it is.

He's went head to head with Drake, Kendrick, Cole, and showed and proved multiple times. I don't think he's 'as good' as the aforementioned, but it's MUCH closer than people would give it credit for.

    Bops, flops, flippers, dippers

His best doesnt even touch my favs worst lmao.

Bro has one of the worst rap voices ever in mainstream rap, cornball ass bars all the time everytime & nowadays has some of the most generic random pick up hallmark ass cards inspirational rap lines.

It's cool if you like him tho👍

This post is sooooo misrepresentative of who Big Sean is as a rapper.

Your favorite rapper says far more cringe stuff than Sean and does it way more frequently.

You can say you don't like Big Sean, that's fine. But the corny lines all the time stuff is just flat out wrong.

There's no way niggas listened to Detroit 2 or like, DSP or I Decided and said "Man this is filled with corny s***" not when niggas out here talking about their d***s being as big as the Eiffel tower or having so many chains they feel like chaining tatum.

he is not one of those guys though

He absolutely is. How many rappers ever have a #1 album 10 years after their debut?

  • And this the s*** i'm talking about.

Cole has a song about f***ing Wet Dreamz and literally said you can't out-fart me but gets away with.

Drake once said Let the lights dim sum, s/o my asian girls.

Why is it that Sean can't escape his past, but they can?

    Conditioning is everything.

    Idc what anyone says

I Decided is one of his best albums

When it released I was at a cross roads between doing the right thing or continuing to live in my toxic ways...it talks a lot about finding yourself, following your path and living with no regrets as long as you give it your best

It really made me feel like I’m not alone as far as going through my own journey and making mistakes

    Honestly slept on

Yep, one of my favs along with DSP

Big Sean was #4 in comparison to the big 3. He had hits and rapping ability. He just never sold well before DSP, other than that he's a good role player. The J. Cole to Drake's Kendrick if you will. Best way I can describe him, Detroit 2 was a solid album.

Sure, I can roll with this. (I'm catching up to the thread lol)

He probably is a notch below, but 'just' a notch if that makes sense. He has a ton of hits, a ton of moments that has showcased his rapping ability, he's right there.

His biggest issue is that Drake / Cole / Kendrick came into the game under the pretense of being great rappers, which they were / are. That gives you a license to say corny s*** and people overlook it.

Sean doesn't have that luxury because he came into the spotlight making songs like "bullshittin" and weed records w/Wiz khalifa and s*** and making that hashtag flow known. Aesthetic and conditioning are everything and to this day, people still cite decade old lines to support him being a bad rapper when it's so far from the truth.

    Hella passionate about sean

  • Goo

His whole punchline based style is meh/corny, not very clever, he isn't an outstanding writer.. many in hip hop are better

    Man F*** no

if you're saying consistency with sales and popularity that's one thing, i assumed you meant content.

i feel like hof is mid, dsp is good despite sounding dated fast. i decided is like 8/10 imo and detroit 2 is too bloated.

that with his features usually being pretty sub par and having two eh collab projects it's hard for me to see him as consistent

good on you but the idea of someone having their “come to jesus” type moment while big sean is playing in the background has me dead

  • May 5, 2021

I actually go back to some stuff off Detroit 2 that's more than I've ever enjoyed his albums

  • May 5, 2021

You could say this about any corny/cheesy artist pretty much, they usually have some decent music and redeemable qualities (even logic). It’s just that the wealth of cheesy material makes it harder to even take the good stuff serious. And honestly even Sean’s “serious” stuff comes off lightweight and cheesy a lot of the time

  • May 5, 2021

Sean was actually my favorite out of that whole class of artist that came out together.
Easily one of the best lyrically from that era

Lol had nothing to do with Jesus but rather not taking things for granted as much as I was

    yeah i like sean
