Nah, this Hannah Montana : The Movie reject got exactly what it deserved. I think I even played Be Alive more and I dropped the studio version a long time ago in favor of the Oscar performance.

You could say album length. There’s like 2 to 3 songs you could do without (jolene, texas hold em for example)

Needed more alligator tears and 16 candles type tracks.

But also the ambitiousness and “ this is Beyonce, not country” vibe was also gonna make this a between a rock and a hard place.

Riverdance from my experience the only joint from this album i even be hearing outside like that and that’s just a renaissance track with a cowboy hat on it.

Like it’s not a BAD album by any means. Although Beyonce going “aight here k bye” with it didnt help reception.

I just think back to the song that made me want an album like this from her, and it’s hard to find more than maybe 3 tracks on this album that are better than Daddy Lessons.

Desert Eagle being one of the shortest tracks on here is also a musical crime of the highest order tbh.

I think one reason why the album didn’t quite catch on with the masses was the slow start with songs like Blackbird, Protector, My Rose. It takes ~16min before we get to the first upbeat song with Texas, that’s a long time for today’s audience. I absolutely adore the slower moments on this record (besides IIMW) and those songs are what set CC apart from Renaissance, especially when the last 8 tracks basically flow seamlessly into each other just like on REN.
