how you feeling about it as the resident country expert
first impression was really good, gonna listen again tonight.
i definitely see why she stressed that its not a country album, its a beyonce album. expected a little more country going in ngl but I'm not complaining, I think it's totally unique and all the explorations work well. wasn't really thinking about it too hard but does it feel like a "country album"? no, but it also doesnt feel like a pop album, r&b album, folk album, etc. either. it's a fusion of a bunch of different styles with long storied histories which somehow turns out to sound extremely modern.
honestly i kinda feel a similar thing i feel with a lot of prince albums. where they were just a mix of funk, rock, pop, r&b and you cant really just point at it and say its a __ album unless you fill in the blank with Prince. and this album is a fusion of a bunch of stuff too that's all Beyonce
i think a lot of interesting things go beyond that and there's much deeper to go beyond just "beyonce blends genres" thing, that's just the most immediate. (and also the once she explicitly stated so you are sure not to miss it). many different facets and worlds within worlds that she's creating. similar thing on Renaissance too where it has a lot of layers and styles that reveals itself over time and it's not just "beyonce made a dance album". perfect complements to each other
i accidentally started listening to this on shuffle

Not been able to enjoy Beyonce for a while now tbh.. Not sure if I just outgrew her music or it's just not really hitting for me
