need you to weigh in on the Eight Miles High debate

i should go through more of the Hollies catalog tbh ive only really heard like the main 10 or so hits
man i forgot about this one
havent heard it since i got a Hollies best-of when i first dove into invasion s***

never really occurred to me how abstract the lyric and structure on this song really is for a top 40 hit
1966 wild

@twinkletoez some of the purest music of the psychedelic era came from this dude
goes to show the movement was different than the other genres bourne of poverty and could only have happened during a time of relative prosperity where the countries youth could actually feel like hopeful free spirits

i gotta get around to listening to his compilation of demos one day. cant imagine its that amazing (mainly just acoustic demos iirc) but I feel like I owe it to him as the writer of legit one of the best songs ever. could also maybe imagine an alternate universe where a few more of his songs got fleshed out for Love
how do you write Alone Again Or as a teenager
"MacLean originally wrote the song, then called "Alone Again", in 1965 for Love's debut album. However, he did not complete it until the recording of "Forever Changes" in the summer of 1967."

Two of my most listened to og actual Nuggets that I never found an album to put on or anything
Suicide vibes @RASIE
Yo this is fire
Definitely agree with the suicide vibes. Makes sense too when suicide drew so much from that era where doo-wop was being appropriated by garage and rockabilly types (not mention velvets) from around that era.
But even though stuff like Beefheart's "Dropout Boogie" predicts Suicide, I've never heard these TC Atlantic dudes and that "Faces" song definitely takes the cake in that respect. Dope find.
These dudes actually got some jams. Might have to do a little dive into em

the itinerary, you recognize any?
gotta love those garage band names
Oh it was you that found em. Good s*** fam

one of my psych books had it listed as well
saw it on his list after
just found this one that starts iffy but then hits that trippy ballroom sound Misunderstood had and really starts zooming

this early Beefheart single Moonchild too
cant believe i didnt have it as a Safe As Milk bonus track all this time
also not sure if you know but Mona is a gargantuan Bo Diddley classic from '57 (12th best song of that year :kendricklaff: )

They did it justice
Didn't realize thread was on 1966. Aight then

Shoutout to Lester Bangs for writing a great chapter about these guys and introducing me to them

@Elric if TC Atlantic tapped into what would later become Suicide, then The Godz are definitely the precursors of Pere Ubu
You should play "White Cat Heat" in your house and see if it gets a reaction from your kitties
