i respect it i guess. glad to have both tho
RCA version gives me that same primordial feeling that Dirt and New Dawn Fades give me
zenith only maybe Kingdom Of Heaven topping it for this year
KOH gives me that primordial feel AND that spiritual biblical dread
@Koala do you feel it broski :ohno: I think you'll like how these southern boys go in.

i should go through more of the Hollies catalog tbh ive only really heard like the main 10 or so hits
Actual jams are pretty sporadic up to this point but there are some amazing gems. I think they actually took control of songwriting duties from this point on and got more consistent.

might be the most basic choice but for my favorite 66 Elevators cut I gotta go with You're Gonna Miss Me. energy is just f***ing legendary. the fact that it came out in January 66
Roller Coaster a close 2nd for being a contender for song that most sums up the psychedelic experience
im planning to go into a bit of a psych phase soon, been too long since i listened to the elevators albums

i love monkey island, the lyrics are great
living on monkey island pretending to be a monkey too
relatable psychedelic realization
im about to peep like 15 potential 1966 gems and will report back later

Holy sheit does this sound better on rekkid
pretty my digital version is mono too but the record sounds so much more dynamic
You start to serve,
The downward curve,
That catches up your fears.
Each thing you do,
Comes home to you,
And pounds inside your ears.
Your start to fight against the night,
That screams inside your mind.
When something black it answers back,
And grabs you from behind!
Reverberation

i appreciate its historical place more than i enjoy it
Kim Fowley was on Freak Out btw with some backing vocals
also finding out for the first time now that Dr. John and Paul Butterfield were also on it

Man how the hell did we miss this last year
they recorded a whole demo

Also when you take into account that the rca version was recorded in December 1965 and the Byrds were actually doing acid unlike The Yardbirds or Kinks with their breakthroughs I would give 8MH probably the first real psychedelic rock song. and the rca version truly feels like the big bang that the song really was.
