They definitely tapped into the most zeitgeisty energy with those lyrics
and the amount of swagger in those riffs whew
Besides the obvious stunners like California Girls, this is a hugely underrated Beach Boys song from 1965 that I think best captures their early 'fun in the sun' ethos, the beauty of some of the chords is phenomenal, I really think there's a truly religious character to Brian Wilson's work, like he was trying to impart the glory of God to his audience, all I know is that nobody's come close to his best work, and none of them have thought of their music as 'teenage symphonies to God' like he did

best beach boys song of this year is girl dont tell me
Crazy track, Brian's really the GOAT, I listen to his piano-based stuff so much that I forget sometimes how good his guitar rock songs are, the little solo in that is heavenly

Tbh he's got a way more legitimate rock tinge to his voice than Mike
too bad he didn't get more shine (or did he?)
wow you never knew?
always adored his lead vocal on that
its interesting that Brian was already composing songs on weed by '65 (Please Let Me Wonder) but its f***ing hilarious that he was composing #1 pop hits on LSD already too
the Beach Boys of all people were probably the edgiest dabblers
intro was the first thing Brian composed on acid
dont know who was giving this nerd d**** but its exquisite
