no. I had a buddy in uni who was so persistent on making me listen to them that I abstained from listening to them at all. Might give them a chance now since it has been years. I only know a handful of their songs

No problem, was planning on making one for all my favourite artists eventually. Pulp probably up next. It's more fun with the artists that have difficulty to navigate discographies.
And yeah the Rod songs that were written by Lane or notably enhanced by McLagens excellent organ/piano work definitely deserve a spot.
I was expecting Humble Pie to be amazing but can't say I really loved anything Marriott did after he left. Some of it pretty good but realized it was the rest of the Smol Faces I connected with more.

!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zNKckhYqNBkI never fully connected with The Small Faces outside of a handful of songs, but I might give some of these another shot. I don’t really “get” Ogdens Nut Gone Flake outside of Lazy Sunday. From what I heard from the self titled, I like that significantly more.

yeah ONGF is a bit of a mess. even I have to skip Lazy Sunday sometimes lol. edited out that horrid cockney narrator or whatever decades ago. they had a much stronger year in '67.

I listened to a good amount of it. I’m really liking the Ronnie Lane solo stuff. It’s like his songwriting was too contained before. The title track is incredible.

yeah its growing on me hard. confirming what I already expected; he was the magic in The Small Faces/Faces.

You ever listen to that Aphrodite’s Child “prog” record from 71? I don’t remember seeing anyone post anything from it when we covered that year. Outside of a handful of tracks, I found it incredibly tedious. They made gorgeous baroque/psych music in the late 60’s and had one of the best male vocalists of their era, then they moved onto that. It’s interesting for sure, but there’s way better prog and experimental music. They barely utilize their lead’s talent. It just devolves into tedious tangents and minute long sketches.
Babylon and The Four Horsemen are pretty great and I might have posted them if I had heard them back when we did that year, but those are the only 2 tracks that actually take advantage of their vocalist. The one track that’s basically a woman o*****ing for 5 minutes is the only weird detour that’s worth anything. Aegian Sea has an apocalyptic atmosphere and the closing track is sweet for what it is. The rest is a damn slog. Maybe I’m becoming an impatient simpleton the older I get.

literally was the first song i posted
Speaking of Aphrodite’s Child. I’m just now realizing this Ennio Morricone composed ballad I’ve always loved from 74 or 75 (can’t get a clear answer), was from their vocalist.
