Midnight Special has the best performances
Look at what Sly and co. we’re up to just a couple months later
Sly running of almost purely aura at this point
comes out halfway through the jam , boogies a bit, noodles on guitar a bit, sings a couple bars... end of song
side note; finally saw Sinners today... when the funk guitarist appeared
super classic Dead iconography in this animated intro
!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RcAOlseo8OYyou f***ing with From the Mars Hotel?
yeah I definitely am. spent years just knowing GF more off their rep and iconography before I finally heard them and this is their first album that actually kinda sound like I expected them to back in the day. thought they were more somewhere between Floyd and Hawkwind lol nope. first album with some actually trippy production flourishes.

theres also 2 versions, one which was made a few years later to refine it and tone down the amateur production f***ery
they were just high in the studio going nuts twisting knobs, layering lots of different live recordings on top of each other, making things randomly pan left to right

yeah I dont like anything they did in the 60s really. even Live/Dead I just keep around out of respect for its stature.

i guess its their earthiness of the 70s that helped you
wonder how youll feel about the more stadium-esque sound they settle into by '77. more high energy crowd pleasers, less jazzy and nimble and only psychedelic a few times per show

@RVI you a fan of him?
DAC is a legend
Nico's album is pretty great. @Elric already mentioned the The End cover but I'd also highlight these two songs
