We’ll get to it in 75, but I discovered there was a glam supergroup that released one album under the band name Jet and it’s made up of former members of Sparks, T Rex, and Roxy Music and has a bunch of connections to other acts of the time. The opening track is really cool.
caravan live album with orchestra

I haven’t been able to connect too much with Jobriath’s work, but this was beautiful. It’s a fitting final song for him. Street Corner Love is also another good one from the album.

Doo wop supremacy
Do you use the term doo-wop broadly and include guys like The Drifters, Miracles and Impressions?

It's so much harder to judge what jazz is good or not good
even harder to rank it with pop
And I'm just too big of a fan of voices and words

I will, although I do feel like my pre-80s musical knowledge could use a lot of work. Or perhaps 1974 is just an unlucky year for me to learn about this thread lol, I can't think of or find any song rn that I can vouch for earnestly.
Is this like a new year each day?

I've loved Sketches of Spain for decades
I'm just super picky and prefer prefer stuff with unique instrumentation and not too much relentlessly squalling free jazz horns.
Like I don't know what to make of John Coltrane but Alice can floor me.

kinda the same for me actually, free jazz is like more of an acquired taste i guess, usually the more fusion / rock elements thrown into jazz structures / melodies is easier to pick up on idk. Sketches is a mastapiece
