really rewarding to dig into a lot of the 1969-1970 Hendrix studio material that he worked hard on and try to piece together where he was headed. He clearly wanted a lot of this stuff to see the light of day on an album or at the very least trying songs out live. There's also a lot of worse material that's basically just him fiddling around trying to figure stuff out, and the greedy estate taking advantage of his excessive recording habits. that's some of the stuff that feels a bit immoral to release.
I think he was heading for a 1971 double studio album with a lot of funk/soul elements, still a few more atmospheric psychedelic excursions but with less wild studio trickery then Electric Ladyland. I think there are also still a few super creative parts that never got made before he died that would have filled out the album, I feel like it was about 70% done.
At first I was underwhelmed by the 4th album stuff and thought it was less ambitious and psychedelic than Electric Ladyland. but there's still a lot of amazing performances and interesting diverse styles. Listening to all of them individually is a lot different than the way he would have been able to masterfully combine them into one statement. would have still been an ambitious album, just more grounded and going down a different path than Electric Ladyland.
I've heard you say this and am enticed but just never got a good bootleg to listen to or whatever. Angel would've been another hardcore classic. Is that '69?

Did you ever give a good digestion to the first few posthumous albums?
I should try to get a perfect configuration going but its kinda hard to decide how long to make it

Nah.
I assume you don't have Spotify or you would have said something by now? You could craft me a Hendrix playlist on there. I was also going to ask if you wanted edit powers on my playlists so you could add gems too
Can’t wait to go through glam rock with y’all
That Bowie movie made me want to get deep into it
man i got an irrational love for Bolan
has all the childlike wonder and melodic gifts of Ray Davies minus all that sodium @RVI

nah i do, i just dont use it that much. ill see if enough of what I have is on there to craft a playlist, but I basically use this configuration with like 2 tweaks and a better artwork. strongly recommend it to try to digest this stuff: albumsthatneverwere.blogspot.com/2014/10/jimi-hendrix-first-rays-of-new-rising.html
actual mp3 link is here, had to dig through that old post mega.nz/file/fxlDCSjZ#57gkwjdl76ETCTpU0ZilS0rXtXTTr9S5YegNI-YxUaI
I do recommend at least listening to Cry of Love and Rainbow Bridge a bit. they do have a weird level of authenticity since theyre 50+ years old even though theyre posthumous.I think taking the best halves of both makes for an amazing ideal posthumous album that should have been. they kept a few of the better songs off the first one to maximize the success of the 2nd. a few of the inclusions (My Friend and maybe Belly Button Window) are lame af but most of the rest is worth a good 20 listens honestly. any Hendrix stan has gotta hear the live version of Hear My train a Comin, Pali Gap, Freedom, Angel, Room Full of Mirrors and Dolly Dagger at the very least

Yeah I know some of those but never kept em in rotation. All recorded in '69 obviously?
T.Rex first couple albums are 90% trash but this third one worth a look if you like freak folk or whatever

probably like half 69 and half 70 with a few '68 in there too. and some respectful posthumous Mitch Mitchell drum tracks and production done in 1970-1971 IIRC
@Elric you can try this... hopefully link works

I don't understand how you can listen to Zappa's struggle pastiche of old harmony style but this doesn't hit for you. Slays me immediately.

because Zappa's melodies are masterful, that Bolan wavery voice was kinda bothering me on that one and psych folk as a whole doesnt connect with me a ton
Krautrock produced by Moroder @twinkletoez
