The guitar strum is so f***ing nice at the beginning of Strawberry Fields almost a shame it gets abandoned for that backwards oscillator effect halfway through (which I still love when in stereo)

i think both of those are as good as Arnold Layne, also definitely add a less pop and more experimental sensibility which is essential to the album. would feel a lot different without those two and I don't think it'd necessarily be better as a whole tbh

acting like roger is the one responsible for that direction just cuz you hate him yes i know he was the writer of Stethoscope but the lyrics and actual song part dont matter nearly as much as the exploration which is like a tiny interstellar overdrive type thing

I wonder if any singles ever got immediately replayed and studied closer than anything like Tomorrow Never Knows and Strawberry Fields when they came out all a sudden we had these dramatic soundscapes you could basically walk around in and explore
