TASTE!!!!!! Amazing pick
, I really love this song more than anything and it’s very personal to me. I’ve actually been listening to the whole album a lot lately, You Set the Scene & Maybe The People Would Be The Times might come close but A House Is Not A Motel is really close to my heart and my number one. I don’t think I could ever in life get tired of that breakdown, the performances on the whole album are just so incredible and alive, especially with Arthur
It’s really magic

!https://youtu.be/AUtLZPcThwYHad the greatest album of the ‘60s in the tuck
didn't realize the only Notorious Byrd Brothers single came out in '67
@RVI
and Gene was back for a minute

Bob Seger had singles in the early 60s and fuzzy garage psych bangers
this just changed my worldview @drjdeponytail @Koala

And Crosby already gone
pissy because they chose this beauty over Triad which is not good
Too bad they couldn't work it out though cause he finally leveled up with Lady Friend

Zappas and/or Grateful Deads highlights of the year? potent live stuff?
Zappas and/or Grateful Deads highlights of the year? potent live stuff?
hard to pick single highlight for Zappa since Absolutely Free is basically all a big step forward for albums in the more "progressive" rock format with suites etc. maybe Brown Shoes Don't make It even tho i don't uphold it as a career highlight like some do. a few of the parts are annoying

released in May '67 and the contrast from the rest of the summer of love is so massive
Zappas and/or Grateful Deads highlights of the year? potent live stuff?
im not an expert on '67 Dead but this is generally agreed to be one of the top performances of their early set centerpiece Viola Lee Blues (their first big jam vehicle)

and some good but embryonic versions later in the year that would be much more fleshed out in 68-69. the Anthem of the Sun songs

they were good but '68 is the real year where they ascended higher and surpassed Jefferson Airplane as best San Francisco band. also the year where they became overwhelmingly psychedelic instead of just a bluesy band on acid. there arent really a ton of good quality recordings from '67 either and the setlists were not that diverse
debut is alright but only like 1 or 2 highlights worth posting, if this was some noname band itd be a cool nugget

barely ever played live and basically forgotten about by mid-1967
