Lmao that would almost be like reverse Affirmative Action to make sure a few white people were in the band
I'm sure Sly and Prince had some f***ing rigorous tryouts and that's just how the cookie ended up crumbling. Hendrix definitely got those foisted on him by his manager but they panned out.
I can't help but feel like Prince's were more deliberate though lol his whole appeal in the 80s was just blurring racial and gender boundaries, but yea I feel you
top tier song about jacking off

"And then one day things weren't so fine
I fell in love with Lily
I asked my dad where Lily I could find
He said, "Don't be silly"
"She's been dead since 1929"
Oh, how I cried that night
If only I'd been born in Lily's time
It would have been alright"
relating to this since I been looking up Louise Brooks nudes lately lol

something tells me Pete was molested cause his lyrics are full of hints
"We'll pull him off the stands and clean up the land,
Yes, we'll have us a brand new day.
What is more I got the Fantastic Four
And Doctor Strange to help him on his way"
@twinkletoez these f***ing comic book nerd hippies
you going opening night?

Mitch Mitchell got picked by a coin toss iirc but yeah definitely panned out as a goat tier rock drummer
wouldnt say foisted tho but they just looked for and found english rock musicians since they were in england

If you watched Curb you'd understand that you use "foist" whenever possible :elon:

Yeah on de 6th. Taking my brother who likes Raimi but doesn’t keep up with capeshit. I usually see comic stuff on Thursday’s but I wanna experience it for the first time at the same time.
You seeing it on the 6th too?

"the Velvet Underground achieved everything we set out to do with Venus and Furs and could have retired after that as far as I'm concerned"
- Sterling Morrison
always preferred it to Heroin

Easter Everywhere mono
You still taking this over the debut?
I think so but it's very very close
Nobody To Love is pretty f***in thin
Eh I like it as much as the lesser songs on the debut
Plus Easter everywhere starts with their ultimate masterpiece IMHO so that alone probably edges it

Heroin ending is one of their highest zeniths

Levitation goes hilariously harder in stereo :elon: you're missing the big guitar hook on the chorus

which part specifically, ill check later

I can't get more specific than the big guitar hook on the chorus
You'll know it when you hear it cause I definitely noticed it missing.

Also Dust has a way more pleasing reverb or something that give it more of a
vibe

i think ive listened to the mono too much because that part actually sounds kinda awkward to me
along with the annoyingly loud tambourine in stereo ill take the good ol mono
and overall i like the directness of the mono mixes and less reverb, garage rock feels more right to me sounding that way

Funny cause the the mono version moments sounds super jumbled and awkward to me lol
ended up getting rid of the whole debut in stereo but there's a few off this I'm definitely not keeping
Blasting my '67 playlist at work with some cool old dudes and the only thing that was wild enough for them to inquire twice throughout the day was Beefheart
I thought it was gonna be tighter than it is but Safe As Milk definitely aoty.
Honorable mention to Forever Changes which is a wild sentence.
Unofficial aoty Basement Tapes
