Ford films aren't usually as much about the star of the film as they are about the community that he's depicting
so cozy
1. Only Angels Have Wings (Hawks)
2. Young Mr. Lincoln (Ford)
3. The Rules of the Game (Renoir)
4. The Story of the Last Chrysanthemum (Mizoguchi)
5. The Roaring Twenties (Walsh)
6. Stagecoach (Ford)
7. They All Come Out (Tourneur)
8. The Wizard of Oz (Fleming)
9. Ninotchka (Lubitsch)
10. Frontier Marshall (Dwan)
11. Gone with the Wind (Fleming)

Funny how Stagecoach seems like far and away the most magic film of the year for me but you got it as merely the third best Ford of the year

Epic sweep/production and nice cinnamontography but it's so heavy handed sheesh.
Wild to think that when this came out, they were as far removed from The Civil War as we are from WW2
I’m gonna be boring, but it’s Gone With The Wind.
Man oh man even if you "aren't interested in touching the politics in this", I can't believe how lame and annoying 4 hours of Scarlett/Ashley/Rhett love triangle was
gf and I just wanted to strangle Scarlett for the entire runtime. Crammed 4 hours of character development into the last 2 minutes for her.
