I wouldn't
The Crowd and Greed two other contenders
but it's still Metropolis for me (by far actually)
Some of the choices the Bale twins do make no sense unless they absolutely hated each other
A. Spoiler tag this.
B. Like what
It’s just the Bale twins decisions wasn’t making any sense when you learn which one is which
I respect it lol
Man with a Movie Camera
Un Chien Andalou
The Passion of Joan of Arc
Safety Last
Strike
yeah Passion Of Joan the greatest silent film and Dreyer might be the overall goat of cinema
The Crowd and Greed two other contenders

I'll never forget that Moloch scene
Couldn't believe my eyes on first watch. Stunt me flying through the air looking like ants cause the scale of the set was so massive.

My bad, I hid it now. And it’s been a while since I’ve seen it but I’m thinking of the dinner scene when one of the brothers brings ScarJo to his brother’s family dinner in front of Jessica Biel. We’re led to believe it’s because of an affair but really it’s just the Bale sabotaging his brother’s marriage in front of him. It felt like it’s a scene put in just to throw the audience off and it works but when you know the twist that they’re twins and all they’ve sacrificed for each other the logic that they’d do this to one another doesn’t make as much sense to me
I’d have to rewatch to remember if there were more but that’s one that stuck out to me
What’s up with this The Batman slander I’ve been seeing lately

I'd argue that scene works better on a rewatch... Bale was drunk and somewhat sabotaging his brother's marriage because the one that was drinking was buried alive and almost killed by Hugh Jackman's character. We didn't know it was him that was buried alive, we thought it was Bale's assistant. But once we find out his assistant is how he would hide in plain sight, it's pretty clear on rewatches that the reason that Bale is drunk/showboating ScarJo around is because he's the one that almost died the night before and is pissed off. He even makes sly remarks about it.

No worries, I'm not trying to be antagonistic at all, I just think that's Nolan's best movie and that it holds up incredibly well on rewatches. When you said it didn't, I was genuinely confused lol.
Bale plays both twins with such subtle but distinct personalities you can kinda tell which is which as you watch the film. And it's a real magic trick that most people don't clock the twist on first watch because of how overt and obvious a lot of stuff is. The scene with the kid crying over the bird and saying "But where is his brother?" scene is awesome in hindsight.

You good, I probably should’ve made sure I had the movie fresh in my head before yapping off about it lol. Plus learning things I missed gives me new perspective on movies and often leads to me liking it more
Bryan Cranston voices Commissioner Gordon
I'd recommend it homie

This film was ground zero.
One day we'll return to the sacred texts. When everyone stops trying to act so damn cool. One day.
