SteezLaFlareI wouldn’t say this episode was a miss for me, just not necessarily the biggest fan of the time jump. Last few episodes can change my opinion tho cuz this was more or less set up for the final stretch.

feelingisfirstthis episode was fun imo
just being taken on a ride. no sense in trying to like continuously make sense about it while youre watching
IF i was going to say there is any redeemable character who does not deserve to die, its barry
we know he is terrible, but he is the only one who really, regularly, tries to better himself, and shows to care about other people
he's obviously just f***ed tho.
seeing him come to realizations that so many 'great' people are terrible, or at least tricky as well. i kinda got distracted during his war story thing. something about a donkey. will go back watch later
the lil helicopter flying overhead was a nice touch. we will see what comes out of it
i am left wondering what i expect or want from the show now. its been a fun ride. there are so many characters that are god awful, but it would feel at this point unrealistic for them to finally have a realization of their own terribleness and feel remorse.
similar to succession, the characters have been unbelievable caricatures, which helps demonstrate the points about their respective industries. that said with barry, idk. it would be a shame to make all the characters believable and self aware in the end. but if its not that, then what will it be? just killing them all?

From a character standpoint, this really isn’t all that different from Succession. All these characters are terrible, awful people. They’re either murderous, sociopathic, greedy, selfish, cowardly, or all of the above.
None of them deserve a happy ending, I think Hader is smart enough to realize that. I can already tell the ending to this show is gonna be bleak as s***, just like how Succession will end.

I don’t agree with him caring about people at all, he’s clinging onto the last thread of his humanity..he wants to feel like a person, his disposition & ambitions to seek a normal simple life, helps give you that impression, but when push comes to shove he’s willing to rationalize killing anyone

He’s a victim but he also tried to profit off of his victimhood for selfish reasons, attempting to use Janice’s death as a pathway to fame and money. Even 8 years later he’s still the same way, returning in the public eye to consult on the film they’re making about it

yeah it’s kinda scary how much that user misinterpreted what this episode showed about Barry.
he’s a bigger piece of s*** than ever because now he’s a f***ing hypocrite, preaching the default “good person” bullshit to a child he obviously doesn’t even care about ie. spends his money on Abraham Lincoln biographies while his son is begging for a comforter cuz his room is freezing.
not to mention how he immediately goes back to “killing is the only answer” when he sees Gene on the news lol. there’s absolutely nothing redeemable about Barry. he’s been the biggest POS in the show for multiple seasons now, but he’s absolutely hopeless at this point.
