Obviously no spoilers but I feel like Aster's strength is actual horror. Beau just ended up being a long mess of ideas that faux-cinephiles can pretend they understand
Cregger hit the mark with the mix of scary-stupid. Reminded me a lot of Hellraiser with the gore
Dope film but all the umbrella corp characters really took me out of it
Yeah that’s my biggest concern. Wasn’t worth it to make them all that goofy .
no one wants an exact recreation of the games or many dont . if you listen or read feedback from people who dont want that the issues they have are kind of clear.
Many people want a recreation of the games also. Two things can be right. I've been on many spaces such as reddit, YouTube etc where that had been made clear

I am saying even if you separate those loud game recreation people. There are people including myself just looking at this as a movie not "well actually this is more like the g virus" or whatever nerdy ass conceit they have. Just looking at this for what it is and as people said its dumb fun movie but a lot of it is turn your brain off movie. turn your brain off movies wont work for everyone and a lot of it will come down to audience reaction more than whats on screen. This is a movie where with a packed crowd loving it its going to boost the opinion of it more than seeing alone. Which obviously applies to many movies and many horrors. But like Obsession this is one where the crowd experience plays a large part . I would say though Obsession is less dumb than this movie for me. HOPE too. I got this above Evil Dead though. Hokum is less "fun" but better tension and horror in most moments of the movie.
this does enough to be called resident evil in getting the game experience but still is partially carried by the IP.
Really enjoyed this, thought it was really cool that they made him some random guy that leaves a trail behind that the actual main character would find later on.
Ari slander?
nah, i love Ari and Beau Is Afraid was fine, I guess, but he desperately needs a script editor lol
Absolutely loved all the body horror in this. The jumpscares were well executed too. Whole movie feels like a first timers playthrough of a RE game.

beau is messy as hell but the themes and ideas are pretty straightforward
This is basically Beau is Afraid but good
Was already seeing this but this sold me like crazy

It’s like a fusion of Silent Hill environmental/monster theming, After Hours comedy, The Thing’s suspense and creatures, with the look, structure and progression of a Resident Evil game.
All while still being undeniably a Zach Cregger movie.

This isn’t like Beau . It’s enjoyable and a journey but comparison to Beau is a bit of a stretch
