liked this even more on rewatch tbh, taking it as it is it's really great. and basically perfectly paced. wish it had a slightly different ending but love most of this
Again its really like if Umbrella corporation wasn't as much of a joke would like it better
More like Resident MIDvile am I rite??
solid to good not mid
takes too many risk to be mid
Think it’s just his thing
Weapons and Barbarian had the same type of s***. Homeless man giving the backstory of the product of rape baby just to do a silly line and get ripped the f*** up
Possessed children that’s been held captive for like a week chasing down their abuser and it cuts to the guy cutting the lawn for jokes
I don’t really mind it because it breaks up the tension (I’m a b****)
But I get why it could annoy folks, he seems to focus on the fun side of horror more than “elevate” it like many others
Notice how no one engaged with this whole time it’s true
You could argue Peele balances humor with the horror more but lowkey I think Creggers jokes are funnier more consistently based off the three films between em
Again its really like if Umbrella corporation wasn't as much of a joke would like it better
That’s the point though, they’re shortsighted morons, why give them any dignity at all?
It’s what everyone thinks whenever they get to the labs and pick up the note that essentially says “Damn, this s*** we’re working on rn is crazy, I hope it never gets out or we’re F***ED.”.
First thought after reading that is always “Oh my God these nerds are f***ing idiots.”

worked for others didnt work for me. Glad it worked for others.
also I would love to see a left 4 dead movie done right one day, this gets close to how I'd imagine it at points

Oh yeah Jordan is great at that but I think Creggy does the scares better. The humor is subjective but I agree Creggers movies are a lot funnier as bad as that is for horror apparently?
When homie in Barbarian sees that creepy ass basement and it cuts to him googling how to make money off it >>>

And it’s a perfect mirror to how big corporations don’t see an issue in their ways even when it’s right in front of them
S/O to Luigi

Peele more psychological horror and taking it serious where it has layered meaning than literally scary. I dont think this movie was that scary or disturbing.
Hokum and HOPE had moments were tonally at times what I wanted this to be

I get that but the thread cant tell @twitch and I "the movie is just an action movie it didn't need to be deep or have a message in regards to family themes and a kid getting shot in the face |" then use Umbrella coroporation which has always been some level of intelligence and villainy to give us a hamfisted messaging about ai and corporate bumblings.
you cant have it both ways of "its jut a fun action movie" then so many changes are made to the tone of the game, movie and story in an effort to be funny often times which doesnt work.
I hate ai and corporations being bumbling fools as much as the next guy. Pluribus does it well
I want the RedLetterMedia Half in the Bag review goddammit.
My take on it thematically is that it's about how surviving in the system makes you less human. He's a gig worker who doesn't want to start a family because the economy doesn't incentivize that. He's coerced into precarious work with good intentions and those intentions and his growth really don't matter. It's bigger than him. He preserves through the farm with the childless family who fly American flags and have a big truck, learns from them and the cop how to use violent force, gets around the RV with an abortion, admits to himself that he was scared to love this person and start a family, but there is no future. The maternity ward is a grave. Everyone acts in self interest and is subsumed into the giant monstrous blob. The corporate state is totalizing. These crumbling institutions have to fail. There is a death drive that throws them off the roof. Fatalism, murder, suicide. It is truly absurd.

I agree with this
I in some ways think him throughout the movie being bit by the child is him deep down knowing he wants her to get the abortion but doesnt want to say it. Its why he says "you will be a good mom" . That isnt him saying we will have a good family or that he truly wants to make it out of the situation. Yes he ask them about the cure passively. But truth is part of him wants the free will of them not knowing he is infected. not having the ability to instantly kill him. Does he want to be cured and truly return to his family I dont know. He says the organ he is delivering could be for a child or an old person. Little does he know its a cure for humanity. Sent in above his pay grade on a dummy mission. when action star maxine could have picked it up from the safe city. Action star Maxine dying because she chooses to save a lone random woman also feels like it meant something. When he came face to face with the maeternity ward he ran out of the room and risked falling to his death. Instead he used those dead babies to deafeat the looming family presence that has been following him around the entire movie.

but when they say those dumb things they play them seriously.
Sadler you’re small time!
Sadler you’re small time!
I liked that because they played off villains or other humans. yes sometimes leon says lines to himself but there is still some level of seriousness and grimness
Sadler you’re small time!
When they more than likely make a sequel I hope it’s in the same vein but with Leon instead
also a lot of the people celebrating the creature design I got to say the creatures reminded me of rat king, clicker more than resident evil but I have only played so many of the games
This would have been a pretty dope standalone last of us story
Obviously the ending wouldn’t fit but a lot of the first and second act
