Exactly and he said this and anyone with eyes can tell
He absolutely did not say that. He said that he wrote it with the idea that he’d never get the chance to actually make it so he allowed himself the freedom to go far as he wanted.
He did not write a script then retroactively decide to call it Resident Evil, he had Resident Evil on the brain as he was writing.

Starts talking about it at 16:37.
Tremendous
Creggers my soul belongs to you
Gotta know when to kill the jokes and inject a lil soul
Think it’s just his thing
Weapons and Barbarian had the same type of s***. Homeless man giving the backstory of the product of rape baby just to do a silly line and get ripped the f*** up
Possessed children that’s been held captive for like a week chasing down their abuser and it cuts to the guy cutting the lawn for jokes
I don’t really mind it because it breaks up the tension (I’m a b****)
But I get why it could annoy folks, he seems to focus on the fun side of horror more than “elevate” it like many others
Lmao bro…. The nigga looked at the window as an escape route… throws away the ladder for no reason but to antagonize the dog and then gets to the window and says “oh yeah…. F***” like cmon now
He clearly sees the hook thingy that he thinks he can grab onto, it’s just the length of the drop that surprised him when he goes to the opening
It’s not really a valid point though, it’s completely subjective. You’re applying perfect rationality to an inherently irrational situation.
Its also a reference to RE4
If you don’t want to debate merits and instead crash out at counters, then why are you even in here?
THANK YOU
People forget sometimes that these are MOVIES
And even in real life, NOBODY makes completely rational, logical decisions 100% of the time
I can’t stand when people gotta give a movie criticisms for characters making “dumb” decisions in life-or-death scenarios
But many wanted exactly that lol
Okay? If I want a high level drama and emotional stakes when I go see a new Fast and Furious movie, is it the movie’s fault when it doesn’t deliver on that or is it my flawed expectations fault?
He is suddenly later in movie brave enough to physically grab an acid spewing zombie and use it against another one lol
And?? How does this contradict anything he did previously
Also there’s a clear reason why he finds the bravery to do that at that point
He clearly sees the hook thingy that he thinks he can grab onto, it’s just the length of the drop that surprised him when he goes to the opening
Why would he be surprised about the length of the drop when he’s fully aware how high he climbed up?
Why exactly would you just throw away a ladder for no purpose at all?
I could understand if he accidentally dropped the ladder while trying to close the barn door but no, he purposely tossed the ladder down…for…what…. Who f***in knows…oh yeah to scare the dog which did absolutely nothing obviously
If they delivered something to the emotional plot they did throughout the movie I could forgive the dumb characters , corny jokes and set pieces that at times felt like a waste of time.
why even have him get bitten in the first scenario and the audience knows so that we think “oh he going to make it to umbrella and get cured “ . Going into it I knew he got turned but did anyone here think he was going to get there and get cured ? So the set pieces that come after where Maxine dumb action ass hops out of a working car to save one random lady , rooftop scene and sewer scene don’t really do much of anything but aura
The suspense , tension , humor and horror of HOPE was more resident evil than this movie lol
Hope doesn’t really have any tension or horror after the first act, it basically just becomes a straight up action movie at that point
Why would he be surprised about the length of the drop when he’s fully aware how high he climbed up?

There could’ve been an awning or something right underneath that opening. Dog why are we dissecting a RESIDENT EVIL movie this closely I don’t get it

No, it’s the fact that some of us can see when a writer purposely has the character do something in order for a specific outcome to happen.
“You know what? Ima have him throw away this ladder even though no actual human would be stupid enough to do such a thing. But it’s gonna be comedy when he goes to the window and sees he needs the ladder and now has to jump for this hook. Genius”

Actual humans make stupid as s*** decisions literally all of the time. Have you never worked customer service?

Ask yourself that? All I said was the character is stupid af for throwing away the ladder and both y’all niggas quoted me tryna defend his stupidity

Be honest, if you climbed up a ladder to fix a roof. Would you then toss away your ladder for absolutely no reason at all?
They questioning the logics of a resident evil movir man mfers really devoid of happiness

Lmao yall deadass act like watching a horror movie and being annoyed that the character does something purposely dumb is anything new

Yes, characters in movies can make stupid decisions the same way human beings in real life do all of the time
Be honest, if you climbed up a ladder to fix a roof. Would you then toss away your ladder for absolutely no reason at all?
I wouldn’t. That doesn’t mean there aren’t so many people out there that would make a stupid ass decision like that in a moment of extreme stress and trauma
And?? How does this contradict anything he did previously

To live for cure , Michelle and his child
