Do I need to know anything bout the games before watching
I believe some basic knowledge of who Umbrella Corporation are is recommended before watching this
I’m not worried about the 3rd act. Barbarian and Weapons have unexpected third acts that were overall divisive, but both worked for me
Barbarian 3rd act is goated
I’m so hyped

only thing i dislike about cregger, cant end a movie to save his life but other than that he's very good at this horror s***
they said a good video game movie was impossible..
It only took 33 years (since the release of the live-action Mario film)
Really entertaining and a fun watch, but honestly not much more than that. Probably my least favourite Zach Cregger film so far.
I think the biggest issue for me was how hard it leaned into the comedy, especially in the final act. It just took a lot of the suspense and tension out of it when I wanted the movie to really lock in.
Also, some of the CGI and creature stuff looked way too digital and fake to me, which definitely broke the immersion a few times.
Still had a good time with it overall. Just didn’t leave much of an impression beyond that.
It’s a “good” video game movie in regards to operating in that realm and I think it succeeds in that objective, but makes it a worse film in turn.
I dont think it’s worth trading quality filmmaking to make nods to video game tropes. There’s a reason film is leagues above vidya games in storytelling.
Has a lean carpenter kind of vibe I appreciate, but the humour missed for me 90% of the time. I think this could of really done with a bit of a mean streak.
3/3.5 - 5

I mean is this truly a video game film if the video game elements they added in post production? Resident Evil itself is directly inspired by film. I want an adaptation of games to film or tv where it really felt like it was only ever going to be a game.
Like a good Tomb Raider, Uncharted movie would be cool but its a story so pulled from film where its like "okay".
May we continue to see weird concepts. Death Stranding, Gears of War

Kinda surprised people weren’t expecting this to be comedic. I always had a feeling this would be a horror comedy tbh

I was enjoying the comedy tbh but he leaned on it a bit too hard in the final act. It was undercutting tension.
