    Synopsis

I made a thread similar to this on Ktt 1, but that was 9 years ago. It’s time to rehash it. The premise is simple. Jay Electronica is the best rapper of all time, and all of the arguments otherwise are simply too weak to consider. Previously, it was the idea that he didn’t have enough songs, which was as complete nonsense then as it is now. He probably has close to 150 unique songs and feature verses, more than enough to make a full judgment. The other primary argument was that he didn’t have an album. Well now he arguably has 2, despite one being an unfinished leak, so that argument is out the window.

What makes him the best is simple. All you need to do is listen to the song knights of the roundtable, and hear what Hov is saying on the vocal sample. It’s all about human emotions. There is no rapper past or present that has so deftly been able to speak to the shared emotional experience of humans. Love, pain, loss, anxiety, wanting to be accepted etc., are feelings that we can all relate to in some form or another, and Jay Elect encapsulates them better than anyone. He gets a bad rep from some trolls as a lyrical/miracle/spiritual rapper, but this has never been true. His rhyme schemes, delivery, and words are often simple, to the point and rely much more on appealing to emotion than they do to confusing the listener or making them want to look some s*** up on rapgenius.

However, that’s not to say that that is the extent of his skill as a rapper. On a bar for bar basis, his wordplay, storytelling, metaphors/similies and whatever other lyrical device you might choose are, at his peak compared to the peak of other rappers, superior.

If you aren’t familiar with his music at this point and are itching to write this off as nonsense, I can show you exactly what songs and verses to check out in order to change your mind. If you have listened to his music and don’t agree, I need to hear your argument against it show I can show you why you’re wrong

Kendrick washed him on control. Close thread. Jay electronica got washed by jay z on his own album close thread. Jay electronica has the same 4 go to subjects. Close thread.

I dont give a f*** about his homeless new Orleans past and how 5 percenters and Islam civilized him and now hes a waste of f***ing insecure space at rocnation.. his music is ok bro. But just because he raps about Islam and the forest in the trees doesnt mean he ain't one dimensional. You heard one jay e song you heard them all..
He got washed by Kendrick on control.
He got washed by Jay Z on his own album.
He got washed by everybody else in life.

    C'mon now.

Kendrick loudmouthed a bunch of nothing; Jay E spoke from the heart.

The eyelashes like umbrellas when it rain from the heart
And the tissue is like an angel kissin' you in the dark
You go from blind sight to hindsight
Passion of the Christ, right, to baskin' in the limelight
It take time to get your mind right
    Jay Electricity, PBS Mysteries
In a lofty place tanglin' with Satan over history
You can’t say s*** to me, الحمد لله‎

Yeah his biggest problem. You have to cue in real hard or not listen at all, there’s no throwing him on in the background. He also repeats street themes, but it’s eloquent.

Like yeah you got bars but try to make it not sound like a monologue

Having fully read and digested OP's post it's very safe to say that this nigga very clearly does not listen to many other rappers if this is the kinda conclusion he came to with confidence.

This is why opinions are not facts y'all.
