Damn I went from completely overlooking this game to being hyped as s*** in a week.
Gonna be a long wait for the PS5 version
heard this game a 10 from quite a few people
s*** well do I need to play 1 and 2 first? Or can I just read the plot
I never played any of them or have any clue what they’re like. Is there a story? Is the gameplay like Diablo?
It’s plays considerably slower than Diablo tbh.
Its more of a turn based style of game although locking yourself to that actual turn based combat is optional.
I never played these games or DND before but you can get the hang of it pretty quick and the respec is only 100 gold so you can experiment a lot.
dont be tricked into playing the 3rd in a series you havent played
Baldurs Gate 2 came out before most of people playing 3 were even born there's no way they would build a game that was built on having to had play the previous ones. Yeah there will be story beats they nod to for the OG fans but definitely not necessary at all.
But if you're not into turn based games don't even bother with this.

You mean like The Witcher 3?
Or Fallout 3?
Or Elder Scrolls 5?

I'm not into turn based games except the likes of persona but I'm loving this so far
I dont see why not
Baldurs Gate 1 and 2 are already amongst the greatest of all time

The game takes place 100 years after the first two. Sure there will be some references you miss but overall its an entirely new story. And even the very few recurring characters will be introduced in a way where you dont need any prior knowledge. Game stands completely on its own
The bigger question is wether you like dnd turn based combat. Overall the game is extremely beginner friendly for a crpg but I know many people dont like the slow gameplay and thats fine
Larian really did the impossible by making a crpg thats so easy to get into for the masses that are unfamiliar to this dinosaur genre with a cinematic and modern presentation while also having most of the old crpg fans entertained and loving this game

My fav games are KOTOR 1 and 2 so I can handle slow turn based combat tbh
Cool I’ll start with bg3 then

Enjoy!
KOTOR wouldnt exist without Bioware having their breakthrough making Baldurs Gate 1 and 2 so I guess its back to the roots in some way

Bioware used to be so good. F***
Yeah I played this s*** all weekend I feel like I've barely made a dent
Hard to talk about though because it feels like I'm giving away spoilers to paths other people might not have discovered

Yeah I love how the game constantly rewards you with little secrets or unique interactions. Like you dont wanna take it from other people to have this moment even tho they most likely wont see it anyways

Plus there's seemingly random events that happen where I'm not entirely sure how they were triggered lol ahh been a minute since I was this amazed
