American Patriotthe entire thing of there being this team of scientists researching and monitoring the backrooms was a totally unforced error on the writers part , who otherwise was doing a good job finding the sweet spot of not over explaining
I mean all that lore was revealed years back in the YouTube series. It ls one of the most important aspects of the Backrooms

Some teenagers sitting next to me clearly weren't into it and kept sighing and squirming in their squeaky ass seats smh like you aren't actually trapped in the backrooms guys leave if you're gonna be annoying about it
