The visuals and atmosphere do a lot of heavy lifting. The set pieces are really creepy. Main lead does a great job of displaying loneliness and desperation as he continues to play with the rooms.
The stalking and chasing are perfect just like in the og series. I've only watched the first original short, and this was still an accessible movie to get into.

Reactions online are all over the place lots of mention of LOST, David lynch and other things . Love of the found footage aspect . Debate over third act .
I liked it a lot. Third act lost me for a little bit but drew me back in. I have it in my top 4 for the year so far.
