It’s interesting because I could definitely see people walking away saying things like “boring, wasn’t scary… etc” but at the same time, perhaps fans of the backrooms series will be all in regardless and that’ll be enough to compete with Obsession.

Damn I was loving everything about this until the 3rd act. The reveal of the “monster” ruined it for me, s*** looked goofy as hell and took me out of it being scary/creepy

This still feels like an inside joke movie as in those in the know that like slow burn vs obsession very straightforward. Time will tell but obsession feels like a moment

Hey so this was the best movie of all time.

Time will tell. I’m also interested in how well it does in comparison to A24’s other films

Just for comparisons sake, this won the month by a landslide. Not even a competition honestly. Kane is GOAT.

For comparisons sake I got Obsession over this because it stuck the landing.

If this removed the monster reveal it and cleaned up the 3rd act it would prolly be neck and neck

Couldn’t gauge the crowd but it was pretty quiet after credits started rolling.

No real big scares which isn’t necessarily a problem but falls in line with my a***ysis of this not really being a crowd pleaser

Shot composition is insane. Production design some of the best work in years. Actors doing they motherfucking job. Genuinely tense and creepy. Score is crazy. Ending hard. Whole movie f***ing immediate classic

From what I heard from people walking out was:

“wtf was the whole deal with the mom saying don’t go outside but yet she still went outside”

“There was no climax or real ending just like a straight line”
