why did he buy that song?
He randomly decided to be a hometown hero at the ripe age of 28 (29?)
The idea of defending MUSIC by using attention spans is so funny when his fanbase is full of doomscrolling teenagers
itās another classic keep trying to cope
But when Kendrick does it nobody bats an eye
kendrick is a major factor on why the album feels this way lol
Music not even really an album in my eyes. If I ever want to listen to it, i'll usually pick 2 or 3 songs which fit my current vibe and thatās it.
Never in a million years would I have thought it was living so Italian but here we are
@waltdisney yep we won
MUSIC is a classic album
MUSIC is a classic album
that 'ur the moon' start to the MUSIC rollout was legendary
Cant be replicated how special that night was
that 'ur the moon' start to the MUSIC rollout was legendary
One of my favorite carti songs
That entire initial rollout was so great, wonder what MUSIC would've sounded like if Ye didn't ask him to delay the album for Vultures
No one likes this song but i do ngl
I know its a thug and gunna unreleased but
I still like it
Amazing song people just wanna be contrarians

youāre saying that as if itās still not a classic š

literally a section of any fanbase when an artist tries their hand at anything even slighlty outside what they're 'expected' to do, like just be able to appreciate some s*** for what it is get off your high horse
literally a section of any fanbase when an artist tries their hand at anything even slighlty outside what they're 'expected' to do, like just be able to appreciate some s*** for what it is get off your high horse
Plus there are a loud section of fans that always think the unmixed demo of a song is better than the official released version
youāre saying that as if itās still not a classic š
Essay warning: It's got great songs, I've listened to it endlessly, but since release day my overall thought that it's by far his worst album still hasn't changed
Whole thing just feels "compromised" to me. Two AI tracks, shoehorned Kendrick features (said as a kendrick fan), handful of tracks that sound half-finished, a ton of songs that seem like some unreleased from another artist he took and slapped a verse on so he could say those feats were on his album, weird additions to the initial singles that only make the songs worse, bloated, tracklist flows like s***.
Whole thing is just messy. Front to back listen is a chore. I also miss when feats sounded like they had to adapt to Carti's sound, and not the other way around.
I sound like I'm being hard on it, but believe it or not I actually like most of the songs on there. I kinda split the good songs up like this:
The OG singles: K Pop, Evil Jordan (besides that horrendous intro), HBA (snare roll doesn't ruin it for me, but I prefer version without. The missing lines throws me off tho), Different Day, 2024, Backrooms. Toxic fits in with the sound of these. Different Day and 2024 are the stylistic outliers, but still good.
These two stylistically on their own: Pop Out FOMDJ
Radar, Crank, Walk, Dis 1 Got It, Overly
Muyun, Like Weezy, Olympian & Opm Babi
All good songs, but they sound like they came from different versions of the album made over the last 5 years. I don't mind variety, and if the album was made up of just the previously mentioned songs, I don't think it would bother me nearly as much. Its the stylistic differences in addition to all the mid/bad songs that messes it up for me.
AI: Rather Lie, Fine S***
Half-finished/empty/lacking something: Crush, Twin Trim, Charge Dem Hoes a Fee, Cocaine Nose
Shoehorned Kendrick: Mojo Jojo, Good Credit, Backdoor
Sounds like a song he took from the feature: Philly (ok), Rather Lie (bad), Backdoor (pretty good), We Need All Da Vibes (bad), Trim (pretty good)
Just mid/hasn't clicked: Jumpin, South Atlanta Baby, I See You Baby Boi
Demoitis: Wake Up F1lthy
So if I'm being generous with the issues I have with the "good songs", that leaves me at 19 good, 16 not. Which isn't terrible, it just makes it more of a playlist grab bag for me, whereas his previous albums have all been basically front to back classics.
Carti himself said he changed MUSIC in the last few months to make it more suitable for grammys and radio play, and not only does it show, it was also executed poorly, which makes for a messy, disjointed listen. I'm being a harsh critic because I've been a huge carti fan for ages, and this was the first one to not hit the bar that made him special. And even tho he's bigger than ever, you can see the fallout of MUSIC in everything surrounding Carti discourse. ngaf about his new snippets or leaks, fans costantly dogging on him when he might as well have been god for that entire December 2020 - March 2025 stretch.
idk 6/10
