And Azalea calling this Doja song an imitation of New York rap is weird cuz this reminds me more of that beat scene out of LA from like 08 & 09 with FlyLo and Samiyam and them
I think she said that cause of the dusty boom bap kinda beat. I don't get NY from anything else about the track.
Sidebar because I feel like the beat is getting off scot-free, that beat is absolute garbage and if that was going for a NY sound whoever the producer is needs to sell their production gear asap. S*** is awful.
The NY/ South beef is so weird cuz our coasts been collabing for decades Lmaoo
It's some loud and wrong rehtads itt unfortunately who don't even realize this but wanna rant for two pages

yea but even then it reminds me of something that somebody doing a 09 era FlyLo impression would do lol the drums remind me of the second half of GNG BNG

i just find it fascinating how Doja is probably one of the more talented rap artists to emerge fairly recently, and she earns all of this nitpicking and vitriol, while niggas like say Lil Baby or Yeat, essentially get to regurgitate the same generic s*** project after project and get called geniuses for it
it just doesn’t make sense to me at all lmao
If y'all think going at popular street rappers is going to help Doja KKKat win over hip hop fans y'all going down the wrong road
Azalea is black fr, and she speaks up, what she said is LEGIT, Drake contributed more to hip hop and black culture, but he don’t get credit 4 it because of his skin color
I always look at this from an objective lense and I can say yes Drake is more influential than Kendrick when it comes to contributing to the culture musically however what makes me chuckle is when ppl ignore Kendrick’s contribution or his greatness cause a lot of white ppl f*** with his music.
Don’t y’all realize in order to even get as big as Drake or Kendrick a majority of your fans have to be white.
Secondly feels ignorant bigging up Drake cause it makes it seem like most black ppl’s lives revolve around being in relationships, competing with each other to make it and flexin. That’s all there is to the black experience? but if we mention anything else we’re pandering or on some nerd s***
west coast criticism was weird as f*** cuz West Coast niggas have some classic records outside of the s*** everybody knows
It's not weird given the state of west coast rap right now and the fact azealia is from Harlem. its like y'all don't know hip hop at all
If y'all think going at popular street rappers is going to help Doja KKKat win over hip hop fans y'all going down the wrong road
They don't remember the push back she got when Niggas Ain't S*** was originally named NAS as a response for Nas's diss on Ultra Black.
A line in which Nas told not a single lie.
also any Kendrick fans using awards and acclaim/reviews to back up their opinion that Kendrick is great are just as deranged as people using sales and billboard stats
all of that is silly
Sales are driven by the people. White awards handpicked by a bunch of white people is not the same indication of who is the hottest in hip hop
GKMC definitely wasn’t made for white people. That s*** is a John Singleton movie in an album.
The only Kendrick album I think could be argued as being directed towards a primarily white audience would be DAMN only because of the amount of mainstream crossover pop appeal the album attempts. He went from not wanting to include Drake on GKMC but being made to by the label…to those awful Zacari, U2, and Rihanna features on DAMN
He didn’t want to include Drake in GKMC because the boy washed him up on poetic justice
RIGHT
I get the west has been quiet the last decade or so in the mainstream but rap became cool AND mainstream in the 90s off the back of what the west was doing and everyone emulating. Cali pretty much wrote the rule book on what the cool superstar MC is supposed to be
Mfs rewriting history about Cali’s place in this s***
This is an oversimplification gang
EPMD was an NY group doing G Funk style records in 88 before The Chronic and all that.
This was off their debut album which went Gold and you literally hear the groundwork for what DJ Quik and them would do about 2-3 years later.

Above The Law improved upon it in 1990 with the Livin Like Hustlers album which they worked on with Dre

DJ Quik deff improved upon the sound with his debut in 1991, alongside Above The Law

Dre would take what he learned with Hutch and them from Above The Law & perfect the sound with the Chronic.
That's why these coastal debates are kinda silly cuz everybody took some s*** from somewhere
A lot of rappers feel this way but they saw how French Montana was done when he slipped up and told the truth
Meanwhile Young Thug and a bunch of other rappers were clowning him for saying that dumb s*** but yea it’s the “truth”
It's not weird given the state of west coast rap right now and the fact azealia is from Harlem. its like y'all don't know hip hop at all
Calling west coast rap inoffensive and catered to whites is weird cuz there's a whole side of West Coast rap that isn't just backpacker s*** lol
Im still mad at what she said about DC bm that s*** was lame but she didnt tell a lie on this new rant lol
"White people like your music" will forever be this achilles heal argument against any rapper.
If y'all think going at popular street rappers is going to help Doja KKKat win over hip hop fans y'all going down the wrong road
i don’t care who it’s going to help lmao, it’s just amazing to me y’all niggas d***ride yeat and lil baby when doja is obviously more talented than both of them
yeat being called a street rapper got me in tears, this genre is in the s***ter man
