Certain things should be diegetic. A wild casting choice or shocking character inclusion or an interconnected universe falls under that, cause then it’s an organic part of the world that the audience is invited to see. More “hey guys our universe is wild af btw this is how it goes” and less of a non-diegetic marketing thing that audiences/fans are viewing from a cynical real life business lens off rip

Much like my Doom reveal take, imagine if instead of the in theater reveal of leading to the Avengers with Samuel L in Iron Man/Tony in Hulk, Marvel announced their whole MCU plan from the jump in 2007 and left nothing to surprise…it’s not a natural part of the work itself, now it’s strictly business even for the fans.
