To be fair in the comics he was often depicted as somewhat bumbling. Mostly because he is basically an alien experiencing life among mortals. It's bumbling because he doesn't fit in. That was one of Thor's charms as a character. The way they doing him in the movies is definitely OD and it's because he isn't all that likable
