Lol nah yall rewriting history… during 2019 endgame was being billed as a send off for Chris and RDJ
Yes a couple years later rumors came in about Chris returning but the original plan was for endgame to be the last
Nah at some point they definitely had endgame set up as him and RDJ farewell
They said they originally had Steve also dying but didnt want to double up with him Tony so they wanted Steve to have a happier ending
Maybe in the production stages but by the time of that movie’s release, it was clear as day he would return one day based off of where his character was left
This is false bro. It wasn’t til a few years after.
Deadline has gotten s*** wrong about the mcu before
They reported Patrick was supposed to come back as Xavier in Deadpool and Wolverine which was never true
Then they went back and retracted that part of the article. The Chris Evans story is still up to this day

This is true too.

That’s when it was reported yes, but I’m saying I personally didn’t watch Endgame and leave thinking we’re never gonna see Steve again.
Tony? Yes. But Steve, no. His character is literally still living at the end of the movie

Retracting a line in an article where that isn't the headline is totally different than retracting a whole story about something
That Deadpool line was snuck in an article that wasn't about him being in Deadpool

Just cus your intuition was good doesn’t mean that wasn’t their intention. So @Oblivion99 isn’t wrong in what he’s saying.
They intended for endgame to be this big send off for 2 characters and wanted to expand the MCU without relying on Chris and RDJ. Chris even said in interviews that his arc was complete and the ending was perfect
Things have since changed.

Didn't they also say deadpool wouldn't appear in doomsday or secret wars at all ?
I will concede this: I do think that the way Marvel is going about Steve’s return is definitely a reaction to the bad streak they’ve been on post-Endgame. If they were still on a hot streak, I don’t think Steve would be revealed in the very first teaser for the next Avengers film

What would’ve changed between May 2019 and January 2021 that made them approach him about a possible return?
The only project they had released in that timespan was Far From Home, which was a big success.
Then the pandemic happened and all of their 2020 projects were pushed back a year.
Why would they feel the need to bring back Steve all of a sudden when their bad streak hadn’t even started yet?

100%, chadwick and jon majors were always meant to lead this era of mcu. I still have faith they can pull the pivot off though
The contradiction between Endgame being a standoff and the inevitability of Steve’s return is there because, well, it is a contradiction. You know when you can’t make up your mind when you open the refrigerator?
Endgame was 100% supposed to be a send off, ofc due to real life contract reasons that tied into the natural narrative points for these characters. That is true. Steve coming back if they ever touched on the consequences was inevitable. That is also true
The real “thing” here is perhaps Endgame’s ending for the two leads was a lil wonky as a definitive finale, especially in a real world that didn’t immediately build up the F4 and X-Men in 2020-2021 like the Phase One Avengers

Bro you asking questions none of us know the answer to.
Regardless if they changed they mind 10 years later or 2 days later the intention of the final scene in end game was suppose to be a send off for Steve.
So @Oblivion99 believing what they literally intended is ok. The whole “but Steve was still alive” doesn’t change what their intentions was. You can give a character a send off without killing them. Based off this logic all the MCU characters are gonna do these movies til they character dies….
Idk I just feel like out of these two scenarios:
Endgame releases -> Marvel releases another billion dollar film next year -> nothing for one year and six months because of the pandemic -> “I think we need to bring Steve back”
vs.
Endgame is in production and Marvel is thinking of closing both Tony and Steve’s story -> they decide on only killing Tony, and letting Steve travel back in time, leaving the door open for him to return at some point -> they plan on Kang becoming the big bad for the next Saga -> they approach Chris Evans at the start of 2021 to start talks for a new deal about his return
Out of these two scenarios, the latter makes the most sense to me

You don’t think Steve traveling through time and messing up timelines was a factor in their discussions around Kang becoming the big bad for their next Saga?
There’s no way they ever decide on Kang and don’t address Steve’s actions whatsoever
Hopefully one day the full script for Kang Dinasty will leak, just like the Duel of Fates script with Star Wars Episode IX

We need that

Was it ever confirmed that there was a completed script at some point?

2nd one would be alright but the directors, actors and writers all saying thats a perfect place to end Steve's story throws a wrench in that.
Even if they wanted to bring him back, bringing him back into the same movie that RDJ is playing main antagonist and bringing him back by making him the FIRST teaser of this film just looks funny to me
