The age appeal of MJ biopic is way broader than the one of doomsday. His biography gives space for a movie. Meanwhile we got a declining marvel universe, where the last 3 releases have been modest yet couldn’t crack it

Avengers floor is $2b. The two most recent avengers films exceeded the $2b mark and this is the first one in a long time. Not to mention a Spider-Man movie just hit $1.9b without China during Covid. Who’s the main selling point? RDJ is.

And there’s no negative condition of the current superhero movie/Marvel movie landscape that stacks up against all that. At least $2b

Music biopics in general are not that popular. The highest grossing one ever is Bohemian Rhapsody which did $900M.

Does Michael have the potential to surpass that? Obviously. But it’s not gonna do anything more than like $1B or $1.1B.

On the flip side, Doomsday is the first Avengers movie in over seven years. It’s bringing back the franchise’s cash cow to lead & play one of the most iconic comic book villains ever. And it’s also gonna be another cameo fest, featuring an entire cast of X-Men characters that is going to attract people’s nostalgia.

If it does anything less than $1.5B it’s gonna be seen as an underperformance

Even without multiverse counterparts, MCU already has a s***load of characters that they can develop with compelling stories. Multiverse has just been some gimmicky bullshit at the expense of the movie’s quality

Sticking to the incursions as the main problem seems like the most logical choice. Also Cap Marvel being in this is a no-brainer considering her last movie is like one of the only ones that actually set up Doomsday with her friend being stuck in X-Men universe.
