haha the movie will be successful no mater what. just with china market being f***ed by covid and people scared to go out, the movie will not do good in that market. 2b is still possible, but with china underperforming heavily due to covid restrictions, i dont think 2.25 will happen.

will still be like a top 10 movie of all time in box office at the end of the run i think

Where tf is that even coming from, Top Gun CRUSHED the box office over 1b and nobody said aaaannnyyyything about COVID

Just accept that this sequel is 10 years overdue

we are talking about china specifically. top gun wasnt allowed in china and did amazing. China was supposed to help this movie get over the 2b hump by ALOT. china LOVES avatar and the first one did MAD numbers there and they projected it doing 200M + opening weekend. now its only gonna do around 75m

China lockdowns happening again RIGHT as this movie is coming out, theaters shutting down. HALF of the scheduled showtimes got cut due to covid this weekend.

Covid is an excuse for china, and mostly china alone. We will have to see what happens there and how it performs outside of china.
