The upcoming final season is split into 2 parts not 2 cours (1 cour is usually about 10-12 episodes).

Part 1 is only 1 episode (“special episode” so it’ll be a lot longer than the typical 30min episodes). Part 2 will, if nothing changes, also be only 1 episode as well.

From the statement they put out, it looks like it was originally supposed to be 1 final episode (like a movie) but they had to split to two parts (2 “special” episodes) because of the workload.

Nothing in the trailer or the official tweets say anything about “cour” which is クール in Japanese. It says 前編 = part 1 (スペシャル放送 = “special broadcast”) and 後編 = part 2 if it were a 2 part structure (前編 direct transition would be “first part”/“first half” and 後編 “second part”/“second half”).

Random info but if it were a 3 parter, it would usually be 前編 (first/beginning part)、中編 (middle part)、後編 (last part).
