Eren wants to flatten the world because he cannot stand the rest of the world being denied to him. He's not a hero by any measure, he's a child.

Isayama said that he felt he might have rushed the ending in the first post ending interview and that the anime is the fully realised version of it so it’s guaranteed him and Hayashi and Shiseido are gonna flesh it out completely.

Like Annie said, mikasa and them probably wouldn’t have busted down the wall like they did. Most of the people within the walls would never do what Eren is doing and would happily sit by and watch their people be crushed and wiped out. Sad individuals.
