The way this arc juggles tension and payoffs is what makes it the best to me. Return to Shiganshina elevated the series so much and this arc does that times 4, f***in masterful.

What gets lost in the discourse about the ending is the way the author ended up handling contrivances in the last leg of the story. If the anime can elevate moments like connie's rogue mission, Annie's return to the group, the worm thing, and things like Eren's blurred reality stopping him from explaining himself then I could see more people coming around to the ending. A lot of those events just didn't have the impact Isayama was able to deliver in every other arc.

100% . It’s no way that doesn’t happen next episode, they would have to slow the pacing down dramatically for it not too
