ngl this feels like a mecha anime to me since season 4

It always was, but it was made obvious now with the anime original close ups of the warriors inside the titans, pretty neat stuff

Reasonable but anime only are definitely going to moan and groan at the ending/ not get it or translate as well to screen just based on what I know

    I don’t believe that.

The biggest issue manga only people had was motivations not being explained properly/in more detail (I’d go into detail but I’ve still not figured out how to spoiler properly on here).

MAPPA don’t have the self imposed deadline that Kodansha and Isayama himself imposed on it having to end on 139.

I think anime onlys are more casual fans and aren’t obsessed with “sigma chad Eren” like the r/Titanfolk types are and as long as they flesh out the ending and make sure the dialogue and motivations are explained then anime onlys are gonna be fine with the ending.

I doubt this actually, the anime has changed key scenes from the manga to make mikasa and eren interact more and make her your typical anime love interest. Anime onlies are definitely going to overwhelmingly love this ending.

    Exactly.

Crazy that people would be baffled and annoyed about that when they had that almost kiss scene in the last episode of Season 2.

Exactly. The only thing i really want mappa to change is the fallout. Romanticizing Eren as a martyr for Eldia was questionable as f\*\*\*, I get what he tried to express it just seemed very sloppy and tone deaf after what he had done. Eldians ending up like germans post-WW2 would've been the better route imo.

Also you need to erase the empty spaces for the spoiler tag. The lines have to be right next to the words.

I cant wait to see this f***ing ending cause im too curious now, i just know people were overreacting i can feel it

It all had to do with Armin thanking him for it. It made sense what Eren did, he essentially made himself the enemy of the world and the brave Eldians that stopped him the heroes. He also got rid of enough people so that no enemy nation could scrounge up enough force to retaliate for the next century. But it was still morally repugnant and that conversation needs to be more thought out by MAPPA. Armin can still be grateful that Eren would be willing to make himself a martyr to the world without actually condoning his actions (which btw were heavily influenced by Ymir Fritz. The main thing when it’s all said and done is that Eren thinks he’s finally free after starting the Rumbling but the fact is that he was never free and Ymir always had him set on the route that would lead to Mikasa killing him.) I also don’t think Eldians should have ended up more oppressed post Rumbling ala post WW2 Germany, the whole crux of the story was Eren doing all that horribleness to give Eldia prosperity. Most people wouldn’t have liked an ending with Paradis in a worse place then before.

It’s also really important to note that pretty much all of the Japanese audience (the main and most important demographic) liked the manga ending and weren’t obsessed with a nihilist and miserable ending || like some of the Western audience were. So to change that ending into something more || negative towards the Eldians and the main group would be spitting in the Japanese audience’s direction and essentially cutting off their nose to spite their face just to please a very small vocal minority.

Kinda annoyed that it’s not gonna finish this season but at least it will stop at a fire chapter

I know production for this is hard but a legit heads up would have been nice at the minimum

I don’t even think they know what the time frame is for it hence the radio silence.

The scenes they have to adapt for it could honestly be the most difficult and extensive animation work ever done for a Japanese anime and will probably require thousand of hours of animation as well as millions of dollars of CGI just to bring it to life.

I’m sure when the season is done, they will officially drop the movie teaser and say it’s “in production” like they did with Demon Slayer: Mugen Train.

People are free to not like it.

But they also need to understand when their opinion is part of a vocal minority and that creative enterprises shouldn’t be pressured to change artistic directions just to placate that vocal minority that are renowned for turning 180 and being to complain about something else.

If they really believe the manga ending wasn’t to their liking then they should stop watching the anime now and stop trying to influence others who will make their own opinion and enjoy it.

I meant to edit my response instead of fully delete but i feel what you saying . It’s just hard for me to know what is a minority or not . Guess time will tell when we get to it

I just know the internet backlash was strong asf . Even a little too strong to where people got a little disrespectful. I think at least fleshing out the ending wouldn’t hurt anybody since it seems most agree the pacing was kinda weird

Didn’t the author himself even say he felt weird about the ending as well ? I could be misremembering

Id like to say most of us are here, unless someone started watching the show fairly recently which is ok.
I’ve just talked to people who wanted Eren to annihilate the world then sit back in Paradis like a king on a throne, and that always felt stupid as s\*\*\* to me

They act like it was bad as GOT when D&D just flat out gave a nonsensical ending because they wanted to hurry up and start their Star Wars movie. It also didn’t when they ripped the vast majority of their seasons straight out of the book and as soon as that ran out they suddenly thought they were creative geniuses and it became abundantly clear in the last season that they absolutely weren’t.

Everything that happened in AOT, especially the ending, was set up right from the beginning of the manga and was alluded to and properly put together for years.

The problem is those loud people on the internet that for the last two years really bought into the “MUH CHAD EREN COMMIT GENOCIDE DISRESPECT B\*\*\*\*ES” narrative that clearly wasn’t the case at the end of the story.

That “I’ve become so much like Eren Yeager it’s scary” meme is supposed to be a joke but it really feels like those people took it seriously.

Oh yeah , people that wanted a specific route for the show to take are weird for being mad . I noticed a decent amount of folk being irrational when the final chapters dropped because it didn’t go that way
