its really good imo! a lot of people whos reviews and takes i think are good say its trite smug trash, so your mileage will vary, but it has some really real stuff in it emotionally imo. sad workaholic regretful older dad movie and that stuff really hit me. the context being that being hollywood, acting and an super rich elite actor cut that stuff short for a lot of people though. its also got typical funny baumbach dialogue and a fun road trip european type vibe. i really like it

in all seriousness tho, don't think netflix would just stop releasing warner bros movies in theatre but like how does netflix justify not releasing movies in theatres then streaming. So much money lost on their part

I've seen a lot of people asking this question, and I'm not trying to shame you or react with hostility about it, but it's legit really simple. So many people are like "they'd make so much money if they showed X movie in theaters" . They're not dumb! They know they're losing money!

Netflix is willing to lose ANY amount of money if it means that theaters go away. Their entire motivation and endgoal as a company from f***ing Day 1 has been reducing the need for theaters and physical media. They wanted to replace physical media and they want to take out theaters. And they've done a decent job so far at both unfortunately before all this.

If Knives Out 2 had been a hit in theaters, Netflix would've made more money, but it would've been one more cog in the machine helping theaters. Netflix is actively willing to take a loss if it means theatrical exhibition gets gutted. They'll do little (emphasis on LITTLE) compromises here and there with their filmmaker friends, but their endgoal ALWAYS is for theaters to lose money. Physical media = residuals. Theatrical exhibition/box office = residuals. Netflix's entire gameplan revolves around wanting to cut out as many of the middle men as they can and they're willing to entirely destroy cultural spaces to do so.
