Not even true for the ones I'm thinking about. Billy Woods was a weed career for Vordul Mega in the 00s. Roc Marciano was a Flipmode weed carrier. Action Bronson was already 30 by the time Blue Chips and Rare Chandeliers came out.

Yall crackers overuse “weed carrier” so much lol

Billy woods was about to quit before 2012 History Will Absolve Me dropped. Marcberg is seen as an underground classic which dropped in 2010 and Action Bronson already had a following based off the “lol they sound like ghostface” gimmick lol.

Pay attention to the bolded points Rockman

It is the point actually. Billy Woods did not come into his own until he was 34. Roc Marciano got attention and praise for Marcberg, but everyone had to circle back and actually give him flowers when his blueprint matriculated into the Griselda adjacent stuff. Kind of like when Lil Durk was hot and then not and then everyone was kind of sounding like Durk all of the sudden.

And most of what you said lined up with what I said. You're being pedantic and complaining about an epithet. Have fun with that.

as a musician that came to peace with this years ago, this reality was always bound to happen. COVID sped it up but we was always heading this way.

the music industry as a model was never sustainable in the first place. Like at all, especially when you look at how folks was getting paid back in the days.

the fact that the Amen Break drummer died broke is singular proof of this.

session players that singlehandedly carried some of your favorite classics weren't getting paid past the session itself which in itself is f***ed up when you think about it.

So many artists back then didn't make it (shoutout to Unsung) all just because of crooked business practices (e.g. Florence from the Supremes)

Art just aint really meant to prosper under capitalism because it forces people to emphasize commercial ability over creativity. What we are in now is the end stage/result of all that s***. But this was always coming.

What do you think is next

Aspiring to be a career musician is a fool's errand in 2026. Most of your favorite rappers still got a foot in the streets or have expanded into other fields because the money just isn't there. Also a number of rappers, especially the fad artists/one hit wonders, just end up getting regular jobs lmfao, UglyGod climbing the ladder at Walmart as we speak

Its no way he legit working at walmart and not monetizing his infamy, UG could def be on some Open Mike Eagle twitch s***

  • YHVH

    Should’ve stayed in school idiot

  • Being a rappernis only problematic when u try to force doing "rapper s***" like u can jus rap for fun lol

  • At least they tried. I know a lot of mfs that had dreams of being artists but never laid a single f***ing track down

I mean that's still examples of people already being on or having a key cosign.

Open Mike Eagle has an actual musical career and is way more articulate than UglyGod lmfao there is no shot UG could run a successful podcast, at least not based on anything we've seen from the guy

I'm obviously talking about Roc smart ass and Billy Woods/Armand Hammer were critically acclaimed.

What's with you and always having snark behind everything you say? It's just a hip hop discussion.
