some details for the Black Flag remake have leaked
The remake removes the modern day and replaces them with more content in Edward’s pirate era (a few extra hours compared to the original)
Gameplay will shift closer to the RPG-style of newer AC games
Loot and gear stats for Edward
Inventory systems and combat leaning toward the RPG style rather than the choreographed combat of the original
No loading screens when moving between ship and land
Map is not bigger, but islands will be filled with more activities and side content
Expected to include cut content from the original, like parts of Mary Read’s storyline that were dropped in 2013
It’s not on the same “big budget remake” level as Resident Evil 2 or Silent Hill 2, but more of a faithful reimagining with updates
Uses Ubisoft’s new Anvil Pipeline engine (same as AC Shadows)
Release window: currently targeted for early 2026 (likely March), though some sources think it could slip to late 2026.

sad to say that I never played black flag despite loving every early entry in the series
Changing the gameplay to be more in line with the RPG trilogy

Weird choice. Easy bag for Ubisoft but it's looking like they might have fumbled
If you’re changing the combat why even call it a remake
Just make it another pirate game with another story
Dumb f*** organization man

I mean they are remaking it with a new “modernized” vision so it is still a remake. Still a s***ty decision regardless
Idk why y'all crying as if OG Assassin's Creed combat isn't baby mode
respect unity combat

3 combat was goated, what you mean

It’s not about difficulty. RPG AC games have s***ty, clunky combat that doesn’t feel satisfying at all. At least the originals combat looked flashy and smooth. Shadows was a step in the right direction, but I still prefer the OG combat.
Also, Arkham knight showed that you can make that style of combat engaging and challenging.

That style of combat is engaging and challenging there because its Rocksteady and not Ubisoft, Shadows level combat and stealth is fine for me

I mean you’re right about it being rocksteady, but Ubisoft is capable of doing good. They do actually have some talent tucked away behind the corporate bullshit. I’m sure they could make something engaging with the OG combat if they tried.
Anways, Black flag remakes combat only has a chance if it’s in line with shadows. Anything else and it’s over
