gonna be a sad day when you pick up a new instrument or start taking art classes and your friends think you’re wasting your time when chatgpt can do the “same s***” in 3 seconds.

this is becoming true for any intellectual endeavor it's getting scary outchea

AI will never have human nuance. it will always inevitably be detected

    Eventually it will

yes a normal person can’t, but the medium through which the art has to be put through to get to you and me is also being viewed by people who can detect it is AI and the more people are exposed to it, the clearer they see it’s AI. so in a few years I won’t be surprised when you can’t even upload something AI generated without it being instant detected

my dad was watching an AI story. I told him this is AI and pointed out to him why and all of a sudden his mind could see it everywhere and he started skipping AI videos immediately that were even hard to catch at times

the human brain learns quickly and there’s something about the computer generated item that is just not real

even most kids prefer a human model explaining how to do something versus a cartoon character after they pass that lala land 3-6 age

I would say I’m usually good at detecting AI too but I might not be able to next year with the rate of advancement.

Currently, it’s so normalized to use chatgpt for work emails, school work, etc because it goes largely undetected.

    Eventually it will

they been saying “eventually it will” since 1960 when they started researching machine learning

many researchers today have already said we are so far away from that possibility. even the robots are having a hard time with emotions or processing a human way of thinking that isn’t on the internet or in their data to research and learn in real time and amalgamate for this one specific moment and get it right every time or even close to

do you recognize that ai can generate far more realistic looking images than it could a couple years ago? the rate of advancement has accelerated since 1960, man.

I think it’ll be closer than that. LLMs and AI in general have grown at an exponential rate in the last few years

it can generate whatever it wants but it CANNOT BE ORIGINAL OR UNDERSTAND HUMAN NUANCE OR THE DESIRE TO CREATE SOMETHING NEW AND ORIGINAL

why is this being so hard to understand bruh lmao. y’all keep saying eventually when the people researching are saying we are so far away from that and even where we are now is essentially a peak because again, AI can’t rely on itself. it needs humans to continue new growth

I agree that AI can’t generate new ideas, because it’s based on human work.

and yeah, it’s somewhat rare for artists to do so as well, but it still happens. And because it happens, genre evolves, new techniques and ideas are shared, art progresses.

Exactly, the existence of AI doesn't stop the second one, it'll churn out a lot of cheap and easy simulacrums but thoughtful artists will continue to exist and continue to put thought and effort into doing whatever they do! I am not at all worried about that

Maybe I'm even further defeatist about it because I think the entertainment industry is completely anti-intellectual so there's less room for it to disappoint me anymore

If earnest appreciation for AI goes beyond media illiterate baby boomers and crypto types that would be a shame for the general public but I'm very disillusioned to begin with lol

so as a result, humans will always be a step ahead of AI as it will be recreating things that aren’t unique or amazing to the human eye and the tools you say are being developed will advance as well to detect and further establish the usage of AI as a tool to accomplishing a task quicker, but not as the be all end all of originality of art and creation lmfao

like I won’t be surprised when they develop the public use tool to remove the AI layer from a song so you can see “this s*** is AI, f*** this artist”

like let’s relax. that s*** has a limit at the end of the day

I don’t think human creativity will die out or anything in a hypothetical AI dominated world because people find a lot of self-fulfillment and solace in creating art but I think it’ll become devalued.

Yeah AI is amazing at being left brained but is bad at being right brained which is why it currently can’t and probably won’t be able to make compelling art without human direction

The art it generates is all left brained based on logic and patterns which never translates to good art

that’s where we started. that day can’t even be possible because the AI would still need you the human to direct it step by step to get close to what you want and it will still not be perfect and since the tools are advancing like you said, will be quickly detected
