I think because he’s contracted as a director at Marvel and that might’ve been a one film thing

If this actually is a rule, I think Gunn escaped it cus he created a relationship with DC after temporarily being dropped by Marvel.

Gunn prob woulda never gotten Suicide Squad and Peacemaker had he not been out of work due to those tweets/controversy

And he only got hired back for Guardians 3 mostly (Ik they had some specials but still) so it’s not like they could do anything. He’s prob wasnt on a long term contract
