I don’t love his music but I can appreciate an album like utopia for being conceptual and having interesting ideas with the production and verses. It sounds like Travis threw all that out the window and went back to his pre-birds sound when he was d***ged out his mind and laying down whatever. I dont get the vibe that any one of these verses took more than one take. Either Carti had this nigga tweaking off percs in the Stu, or Travis intentionally gave low effort features because he sees the generational run Carti is on and is scared of his spot being taken. Either way, tragic’s features left me with a sour taste in my mouth after listening

Why’s it wrong to criticize a rapper for being lacking in a certain department
Nobody will excuse an Eminem song with a horrible beat by saying “well it’s about the rapping and lyricism so who cares”. No I don’t expect anything lyrically from Carti but that doesn’t make it less lame. I don’t need him to become the next Lupe but you can still rap about money and hoes while being clever or funny. Look at guys like Wayne or 2 chainz
