The mind behind King Krule, Zoo Kid, Edgar the Beatmaker, is one that’s plagued with existential dread and dissonant chords from a tinny guitar. Put em together and you get the most creative and thought provoking music of the 2010’s. Sure it takes some diligence to start to enjoy some of his older stuff but they’re a treat once you’re down that rabbit hole, and his newest stuff is undisputedly amazing. The OOZ is a certified sad classic. From what I’ve listened to on Man Alive! It seems it’ll follow nicely.

While I love archie, “by a long shot” considering the best of the best that came up in the 2010s in his “new-school” class is a bit much. He def top tier tho

  • Feb 17, 2020

He's been around for a decade now fam he just started very young. His writing on 6 Feet is mind blowing for a 15 year old.

Should specify by “young” because new school considering he blew up in the 2010s would put him in with Frank, Hiatus Kaiyote, James Blake, Toro Y Moi and etc

He’s on way different s*** from them though. Just as emotionally available as frank or James, but more relatable in a lot of places imo. And his live instrumentation speaks for itself.

Way different =\= better though. Everyone on that list is a better vocalist than him, Hiatus Kaiyote’s composition and arrangements blow him out the water imo. Frank and James bring just as much emotion in their music. James and Toro just as good of a producer as he is(James arguably better). Nai Palm and Toro just as good of a guitarist. Frank’s pen is on the same level. Etc etc. I’m just saying “by a long shot” is a stretch to me. To each their own though.
