What year is your inception point for "new gen"?
2019? I think 2017-2018 was climax of Cole/Drake/Kendrick
Theres been artists with bigger albums than Rod from 2019-2024 (every year he dropped an album) but not many can do the consistent numbers he does
Also, there's a good chance Cole doesn't make this list at all. Do you think Rod Wave has been more popular than J. Cole since 2015? @martian_master
Good point - I do think Cole would be
But I dont think that dismisses how big Rod Wave truly is
As in, Cole "deserves" a spot here (I know technically not because he doesnt have the streams) but Rod does too

But I think it highlights how Apple Music's miniscule userbase skews popularity

What do you think the % of total streams is coming from Apple, vs Spotify?
What do you think the % of total streams is coming from Apple, vs Spotify?
What do you mean by that
Lists like these are pointless when we know the #1 goes to chimp1
What do you mean by that
Like total streams
Lets say every year theres 100B streams for music
What % of that is Spotify/Apple/Other
just because they’re newer? Durk’s been around longer than Ariana, Post, and Travis
Durk’s had a solid & growing fanbase since the early 2010s with various smaller hits per album, some bigger hits too
Gunna had a strong enough fanbase to outsell The Weeknd in 2022 (botted allegedly) and has been dropping chart-topping hits & features since 2017, plus his recent output has been doing well internationally
Rod Wave has kept a solid fanbase since 2020 and had a few major hits as well
how do they make less sense than anyone else on here? they have strong fanbases
and everyone you named is strictly a streaming artist so listeners aren’t being spread thin into other sub categories and have been major artists now for 7+ years. it makes sense

That's really hard to say. Spotify has over 1K songs with a billion streams, Apple Music had zero as of 2023, so whatever the gap is, it's probably huge. If I had to guesstimate I'd say that 70-80% of music streams globally come from Spotify
Expected him to be higher
Bad bunny will be top 5
youngboy & lil baby is gonna be in the top 5 or so
6 spots left, this should be the final 6, no?

It going to be Drake, Lil Baby, NBA Youngboy top 3
Youngboy, nah
Lil Baby should be 6 or 5
if gunna & rod got more streams than youngboy we might have to start a dialogue
if gunna & rod got more streams than youngboy we might have to start a dialogue
Youngboy dominates YouTube though so it makes sense if he's not on here
Also Youngboy got way more streams on Spotify than Rod
Drake, Taylor, Bad Bunny are locks
Who are the last two???
Future fasho
