I’ll have to do some homework then the main thing is the price cause the Apple one is old I know they haven’t had a new one drop in a bit

I read somewhere that apparently the more resistant glass is to breaking the more easily it scratches. I’m lowkey shocked that in 2023 we still have to compromise

Apple Carplay is dope & super clean my car doesn’t have it so when I use it I appreciate it

Get an aftermarket head unit in there! The ones with wireless CarPlay are still kind of expensive but you can get one with wired CarPlay for pretty cheap

  • Jan 19, 2023

Some bullshit man, just got the "new" Macbook Pro a few months ago. Gonna see what I can get for a trade-in

  • Jan 19, 2023

I’ve thought about it but the timing with my current car now i’d rather stick it out cause a bunch of the newer cars have it standard i’ve been noticing

no, not really. it's already fast enough, right? there are minor (but cool) improvements like slightly better battery life, 8K@60Hz / 4K@240Hz HDMI, Wi-Fi 6E, etc. but I certainly wouldn't take the depreciation hit after just one generation to get those. i'll hold out with my 14" MBP until they can give me the 3nm processor (will be a much larger jump in perfromance-per-watt than M1->M2) and an OLED panel (lighter, no mini-LED blooming)

unless you're talking about the 13" M1 MBP, in which case throw that garbage away and get an M2 MBP

I mean it does the things I need it to do.

Compared with that other one you posted, it seems like it does the same thing

I think in regards to the price difference is build quality and brand….. and it’s Apple so you gotta pay apple premium price lmao. But it’s also Apple so the build is extremely high quality

If you just need a cheap one, go with that one

I’m getting into music production so I’ve been buying hardware / software that I need so I’ve already spent thousands so an $80 drive wasn’t a big deal to me. And Apple’s products are always S their so I didn’t mind the price

Same. I'm waiting for 3nm chips and OLED screens, that way the 16" can shave some weight off

Same. The fact these new Macs are still 5nm definitely strikes me as just a spec bump year so us M1 Pro owners should be passing on these. And I am def passing

I’m def not upgrading anytime soon. At least for another 5 years since I only bought mine a couple months ago lol

I appreciate the response I trust Apple but i’m wonder what is so fancy about it being $80 for so long. Compared to the Asus one also a reliable brand I know. Best of luck with your production journey tho 🫡🔥

When do you think that will come out? Debating on the M2, but maybe I can wait if the M3 will come out in like 2 years

12-18 months from now. OLED is still up in the air for the next generation, but I highly doubt they would go more than 24 months without a spec bump to the M3 family of chips. The iMac is already rumored to get the base M3 chip later this year. Realistically the OLED probably doesn't come until 2H 2025 with M4, and M3 comes 1H of next year.

The only rumored change is the usbc charging

I got that one for a great deal last year (under 1000 dollars for the 512 version) so I can’t complain. Great entry for me into Mac coming from windows. The battery life really is next level with the M chips. My old laptop had like 1.5 hour battery life :jordanlaff3:

Also not really a fan of the new notch design but that’s just the way it’s gonna be for a while.
