It’s clearly you’ve already dismissed the product because of the price without even waiting for them to drop and wait for in depth reviews.

It looks weird for sure, however after looking at it for awhile it may be practical. With the ear cushions flat like that it’s a more narrow frame, making it easier to store when traveling. When I’m traveling I don’t even bother bringing over ear headphones because they take up too much space packing. The traditional case when you fold in the headphones are way more bulky.
This case can potentially easily slide in the envelope next to where your laptop is without adding much bulk, could be impressive considering the size of these things.
